What will EXODUS XI - AFRICA

“The Angelique” offer? 

We have traveled from country to country, continent to continent, to reach the goal of seeing the beautiful motherland, AFRICA. It took us 11 years, but we stayed the course! We will attempt to give guests a lifetime of culture, history, and love in 11 days of travel. The first (3) days of this voyage will be spent in the historic Cairo, Egypt touring the most legendary places and having some fun. Then, the next (6) days will be spent in the beautiful Accra, Ghana engulfing ourselves in the history, culture, and of course nightlife! The additional (2) days will be travel days from the US to Cairo, from Ghana to Egpyt and from Egypt back to the US.

Where will we visit?

We will start the journey off in the beautiful land of Cairo, Egypt and visit the following:

• the Giza Pyramids

• the Ruins of Memphis

• & Yacht Cruise the Red Sea

While in Accra, Ghana we will tour the following:

• W.E.B Dubois Centre

• Ghana National Museum

• Cape Coast Castle (the Door of No Return)

• The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park

• Accra Centre National Culture (Art Centre)

• Assin Manso Slave River site

• Kakum National Park

In addition to visiting these lifechanging historical places, of course, we will indulge ourselves into the Egyptian & Ghanaian Nightlife Experience on select days. Which has been rated as tops in the world! As well as even more surprises…

Are food and drinks included?

We will NOT have unlimited food and drinks. BUT, at most of our tours at least (1) meal will be included with your registration fee. The complete itinerary will be available to review by Dec 15th, 2023.

Accra, Ghana (8/5 - 8/10)

Are there ANY Vaccinations required to enter Egypt and/or Ghana?

  In addition to being up to date on routine vaccines, travelers to Egypt should obtain hepatitis A and B, typhoid, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines. Detailed Egypt-specific travel advice can be found on the Egypt destination page.

Required Immunizations for Ghana Travel: Yellow Fever Vaccine (unless you are 65 years of age or older)

By law, anyone entering Ghana must be able to produce proof of their yellow fever vaccination. UH Roe Green Center for Travel Medicine will provide you with an official certificate of vaccination.

 Why the name “the Angelique”?

For our lovers of the arts enthusiasts the name “Angelique” has some historical value. It is one of the most prized African artwork possessions in the world! And created by a female South African artist. It took her many years to create the work. She had to persevere through many life hurdles but in the end produced a treasure. Well, this will surely be our “Angelique”. It took us 11 years to reach the goal but most important, we reached it! Join us as we celebrate this decade + long journey, back to our roots, the Motherland, AFRICA!

How long does it take to get to Cairo? and which Airlines are we using?

Delta, Virgin Atlantic, Air France and United all fly non-stop to Ghana. Most of our group will likely be using Delta because they seem to have the best flight schedule from Chicago.

Roundtrip Flight is NOT included with your Exodus Groove Weekend Registration Fee BUT can be requested to be included in your invoice via the Registration Form.

We have a RESERVED GROUP FLIGHT with Egypt Airlines! It will be departing from Dulles International Airport (IAD - Washington, DC/Dulles, VA) heading directly to Cairo, Egypt. Once we complete our visit of Cairo they will fly us to Accra, Ghana. They will also complete our return flight services.

The average flight time between United States and Cairo, Egypt is approximately 10.5 hours. This has been calculated based on journeys departing from Washington D.C. You must factor in a connector, if you are coming from Chicago (or other cities) and total average flight time is 12 hours.

"We come from a lineage of people that we've been disconnected from, and I think it's really important that we start to take that journey as individuals," Jenkins said. "I think it's the right time for African Americans as they make that journey back to the homeland to actually lay roots and play a part in the process of really building a strong and unified Africa."
